Lya has an enriched and eclectic musical background. Her Venezuelan and Portuguese heritage alongside growing up in Latin America brings forth a distinct multicultural style. She enjoys playing from Latin to Rock and even a bit of Afro-beat and NeoSoul.

In 2010, she moved from Caracas to London and attended the Tech Music School (BIMM). Since moving to the UK she has played drums & percussion as a session musician, as well as performing, recording, and producing for several artists in the British music scene.

Currently drumming for the Jazz Tropi-Caliente female collective - Colectiva, she has also worked with many other known artists: Juanita Euka, Wiyaala, Eliane Correa, Wara, Animanz, JJ Rosa, London Afrobeat Collective, Dave Randall from Faithless in Slovo Sound System, Clean Bandit as part of their drum-line, Sola Akinbola from Jamiroquai in Critical Mass, Tara Lilly, Sofia Grant, Desta French, The Go Team and recently with Poppy Ajudah and Jools Holland.

Having toured the UK, USA, and Europe, and played at iconic venues such as the Barbican Centre, Jazz Cafe, Cadogan Hall, South Bank Centre, SSE Arena Wembley, and many more; she’s no stranger to the festival and music scene. She's also played at SXSW (Austin- USA), Lovebox, Boomtown, Glastonbury, Festival La Linea, Secret Garden, Wilderness, Shambala, Latitude, and Bestival. And has also had a few TV appearances, including the MTV Europe Music Awards 2017, as part of the drum-line for Clean Bandit;  Killing Eve (BBC1 - S3 EP1); Later... with Jools Holland (BBC2); and the worldwide Sure/Rexona TV Ad "Not Done Yet".
